There are many opportunities for people with military police training and experience, both with municipal and state law enforcement agencies, and private security firms. There are also a number of federal agencies who employ law enforcement personnel. Information on current law enforcement opportunities in the federal government can be found at:
Although the requirements of these jobs vary, people with military police training and experience are usually well qualified and sought after for all these careers. In some cases there is a veteran’s preference associated with these positions (for example, Air Marshal positions). In addition, the Department of Energy (DOE) is responsible for the Nuclear Material Courier (Federal Agent) Training Program. Prior military experience is required for this program. Contact the DOE at (505) 845-6460 for further information. Continuing EducationIn addition to obtaining certifications in your field, advanced education is another way to enhance job performance. One option for advanced education is through the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Army Degree Program (SOCAD). There is an MOS 31B SOC Degree Program specific to your field. |
